We all know our best friend google when it comes to planning your next journey. It finds all sorts of useful blogs and web sites, we can get info on opening hours and tickets and of course with the help of google maps we`ll find our way around the foreign place.
One very helpful function of Google Maps© is actually to plan routes with several stops. So, this way you can walk through your entire pre-planned route for the day without having to type in your next stop all the time. And it works super easy, as you will see:
You simply start as usual: You tell Google Maps© where you are going to start (preferably the place where you are going to stay) and then you tell it where you want to go from there. Now there is the option of adding more stops. You click on it and simply keep adding all the other things you have planned for this day and tadaa! Here is your route. You can now see the dotted blue line, as you are used to it, going all across your screen.
It might look a little wild in the beginning as it goes from left to right and back again, but this way you can also see how efficiently you planned you routes and whether there might be something to change to make the ways between the stops shorter. In case you already optimized it as much as possible, you can now send the directions with the single steps to your fellow travellers so that everybody knows where you`ll be going. Also, this allows you to save the route for later. This ensures you can simply click on it and have the full tour opened on Google Maps© within seconds rather than typing everything in again.
Furthermore, Google Maps© now shows you how long you will need to walk/drive if you simply go through the route without spending any more time at one of the singe stations. From my experience, we usually had a pure walking time of about an hour in a single day`s route. This mostly worked out perfectly so we had time for breaks, breakfast and lunch as well as some additional sights and most importantly time at the respective stops. However, as always, this obviously depends on how much walking you feel comfortable with. I`d say that this guideline does not require you to be any special fit or sporty, but you should probably not be the laziest person on earth either.
So with this function you can easily recall your routes on Google Maps© as soon as you click on the shared link as well as making sure you won`t ever forget a single stop any more. You have the entire day route always right with you and don`t have to type in the next one once you`ve reached one.
As you see, this function of Google Maps© is a very helful one, amongst all of the others that it provides obviously. Simply try it on your next trip to a city and find out how it actually can improve your holiday!
