In almost every woman`s hand bag you will be able to find some things flying around somewhere. Mostly among these are the favourite lipstick, some small pack of tissues and maybe somewhere in the very bottom there might even be a tampon. However, there are much better and more subtle ways to organize these necessities and also avoid some embarrassing situations.
First of all, I´d recommend putting these things into a designated small pouch. Choose one that you like from the look as well as the practicability and size. It should not be too big though, as you want to make sue it fits into all your bags. This is actually where we already are at another benefit of these: such a pouch is easy to take everywhere as you can simply take it out of one bag and throw it into a different coloured, sized or styled bag - whatever fits to today`s outfit and needs.
I for myself chose one from Cath Kidston® which is an absolutely fantastic British bags, clothing and stationary brand. All their products are high quality and last what feels like forever. There specialty is "modern vintage" meaning colourful patterns that simply look gorgeous! Obviously you can choose whatever brand you like, just make sure it is durable and has a good zipper.
Now let`s come to the really important part: What to pack in there. Of course every woman has different needs and likes to have different things with her to feel comfortable. This is just what seems right to me at the moment.
- A small pack of tissues: I usually put half a package of these little ones in there to make sure my pouch does not get too bulky.
- A pen: I always have a pen in there. I realised that using one with a cap is good to prevent it from spilling any ink in there
- A hairband: Sometimes it is simply too hot or our hair does for some reason just not look as good as it is supposed to anymore. Then you`ll be happy about this little hero.
- A small deodorant: Well, we all know situations when this can come in handy. In case you have a trial- size of a perfume you like you might as well add this is you want to
- A small disinfection gel: Especially in these times having something to get rid of a few bacteria can`t be wrong. Personally, I already started always having one with me a few years ago, and I have to say I was really glad, particularly in larger cities.
- Some money: I tent to have a small/medium note with me at any times in there. So whatever options your currency offers in terms of this, you might want to pack one, too. It is highly unlikely somebody steals this bag and it is always good to have some emergency money with you to get you home.
- A tiny hairbrush: and when I say tiny, I mean tiny. Mine is like 5 cm big. Lots of chemists and drug stores actually sell those little versions. I have mine from Flying Tiger® and I haven`t had any issues so far.
- Some tampons: I always have 3 or 4 of them with me. You never know what might happen... In fact, I even crafted myself a little paper wrapping for them to make sure they are not as easily visible. I simply used some nice looking tissue paper to do so as it does not have to be any durable.
- painkillers: Well, for me being a person having headaches quite often this really is an important thing. In case you need some other medicine you can obviously add this as well. I simply use an old small medicine package (about 3cm x 0,5 cm) and store 3 pills of Paracetamol in there.
- my Swisscard®: This is sooo practical! It is from the Swiss company, which produces the famous penknives. Technically it is a credit card sized plastic "card" that contains some tiny scissors, a nail file, a reusable toothpick, a ruler on its edge, some tweezers and obviously a little knife. The best: It works our for every single airline`s regulations so you can really take it everywhere. I mostly use the nail file as well we the scissors, but also the rest can be really good for some everyday situations.
- A lip balm: Unless most other women, I don`t usually have a lipstick with be, but mostly a lip balm. I like to have naturally coloured lips, so I simply use a lip balm containing a little honey, from time to time with some smooth natural colour. This really helps to look and especially feel good within split seconds.
So, this is the bigger part of the things in there. However, I do add certain items depending on the season:
In winters, I like to keep 1 or 2 cough drops as well as a little hand creme in there to make sure my handy stay soft. In summers, however, I add a little sun cream in there and my little manual fan.
I actually also realised, that this pouch is a vey good hiding spot for keys and phones, for example at the beach. I don`t think anyone would look in there, but much rather in your purse or the little side pocket in your beach bag.
My suggestion is, simply think about what you need a lot or like to have with you. Some people might add some other hair items like clips, others might want to have a mascara with them. I can only recommend starting to use such a small bag where all the important things are inside. I makes life much easier in stressy situations and even if it is not yourself who needs the things, you will become everyone`s hero and all the people around you will highly appreciate that (yes, I am talking about my own experiences)!
So let`s get going, find a beautiful little pouch for you and over time fill it with the items you realize having around you at any time. It is actually a fun process and a very nice project to do for your self-care. Enjoy!
